Our Roses: Climbing & Rambling Roses

We have a superb selection of climbing roses ranging in size from the miniature climbers to the massive 50-foot tree climbers. Climbing roses come in a variety of shapes and plant habits like other roses. Most of the new varieties are repeat or ever-blooming, while some of the finest older rambling roses bloom in one massive show early in the summer. Climbing roses have for centuries been one of the most beautiful and charming plants for the garden. Our miniature climbing roses are well suited for balcony and container gardens. Again this is just a sample of our selection in climbing and rambling roses. The actual size of the climber is very dependant on growing and soil conditions. They can easily vary from 2-5 feet in different locations. If the climber is too big, prune it smaller! If its not big enough, feed it more and let it grow. It takes 2-3 growing season for a climber to mature into its majestic form.

Listed Below is just a sample of some Climbing Roses. Visit our nursery for a complete selection.

Westerland

This has to be the most reliable full proof shrub-climber we grow. Everyone that grows Westerland loves it! The fragrance is strong and sweet, the flowers large frilly and in the most beautiful shades of orange, salmon with yellow tones. The foliage is immaculant, large ultra glossy and highly resistant to blackspot. This is one of those roses that just seems to always look great! Amazing vigour, bushy wide habit that makes a superb specimen shrub or can be trained as a climber. She flowers early in the season and repeats flower all summer. The first bloom is a massive wave of heavenly scented roses. Superb health, stuning colour blends, easy to grow and fragrant! No wonder Westerland is one of our most asked for climbing roses. This outstanding rose also comes in a golden yellow form called " Autum Sunset".

Dublin Bay

If you want a brilliant, long-lasting red climber, this rose is hard to beat for our coastal gardens. Our 2 plants have been in the garden for over 20 years now and bloom from late May until frost. The flowers are large, well formed, and make an excellent show in the garden or for cut bouquets. Grows to about 8 feet tall or wide. Also makes a good large shrub if you prune it down each year. This rose seems to have a longer first wave of bloom than any climber I know of. The fall blooming is equally impressive!

Graham Thomas
Rossana

One of the new climbing max hybrids from Kordes in Germany. These climbers have been bred and tested without pesticides for many years.

Rosanna has large fully double flowers in the most beautiful clear pink colour that you could ask for. The foliage is ultra glossy setting off the delicious looking flowers to perfection. This is simply a stunning robust and healthy climber for the garden! She grows to about 10 feet, is lightly scented and looks good even without flowers!

Laura FordLaura Ford

One of our English-bred miniature climbing roses. The mini climbers are all very easy to grow and are perfectly suited for smaller or even large gardens. They can be grown in large oak type barrels or planted in the ground. Laura is a beautiful yellow with salmon edges, fragrant, and blooms from summer until frost. The plant is very hardy, disease resistant and easy to grow. It grows to about 8 feet in good soil. This group of climbers is called miniature since the flower size is smaller (as are the leaves). They produce hundreds if not thousands of roses in a season. Highly recommended for the novice or expert gardener.

Laguna

One of the new climbing max hybrids from Kordes of Germany. These climbers have been bred and tested without pesticides for many years.

When I first saw the photos of Laguna I was simply amazed at the foliage! Each leaf looked as if it had been hand polished! The shocking pink flowers combined with spotless foliage make her one amazing garden rose. People who claim roses are hard to grow have never grown a variety like Laguna. She is highly fragrant, very winter hardy and shows outstanding resistance to all diseases. If you can't grow this rose well, it's time to bow your head and shame cuz, baby it's not the rose at fault! wink.
