Our Roses: David Austin English Roses

Developed in England by David Austin. This group of roses resembles the old-fashioned type but have some characteristics of modern roses. Most repeat bloom and many have unusual rose perfumes. They are shrubbier in habit when compared to Hybrid Tea roses. Some of the larger growers make breathtaking climbers for small fences or pillars. They come in an endless supply of colours and flower shapes. Very winter hardy and well suited for our coastal climate. Most can be pruned lower or allowed to grow into larger shrubs. If you try one, you will definitely be back for another!

Listed Below is just a sample of some favorite English Roses. Visit our nursery for a complete selection.

EglantyneJames Galway

This is a superb English Rose! The bush is robust, upright growing and stands proud without staking. I love the double frilly old fashion flowers. James is a wonderful blend of pinks, darker at the centre, softening towards the edges. The over all effect is of classic. Gardeners will all appreciate the thick healthy foliage and resist all rose diseases. I highly recommend this rose as a garden shrub or even small climber. Great flush of bloom early June with excellent repeat all summer long.

FalstaffWilliam Shakespeare 2000
For the lover of deep red to purple roses - large flowers, packed with petals truly resembling the ancient damask roses. The plant grows bushy and upright, making it suitable for containers and small gardens. Very winter hardy and easy to grow. Moderate old rose fragrance. I've become very fond of this rose over the years and now have 4 bushes in my garden. The colour and form is truly stunning but it's the fragrance that makes you fall in love.

Golden Celebration Golden Celebration

You will love the deep golden flowers and rich fragrance of this rose. The individual flowers are very large and cup-shaped, holding up well in the rain. Our plant has a tidy arching habit and blooms well despite its shady location. Looks wonderful when trained along a low fence or up a short pillar. Very impressive when used as a cut flower.
Golden Celebration is one of those roses that people run across the garden to see!

Mary RoseMary Rose

An early and popular Austin introduction. The plant forms a twiggy mound to about 3 or 4 feet and has lovely deep pink roses from summer until frost. It's very winter hardy and suitable for container growing or the smaller garden. Fragrance is moderate rich old rose.

William MorrisTeasing Georgia

Wow! Simplly one of the most beautiful David Austin roses ever created. Teasing Georgia is far superior to the much more popular Graham Thomas rose but for some reason she sits quietly in his shadow. She is an ideal rose for training on a wall, fence, pergola or any place you can best appreciate her graceful nodding flowers. The fragrance is tea like and delicate just like her colour. Foliage is healthy mid green and plentiful.

She is my favorite yellow English rose and one that visitors to our garden always fall in love with.
