Loretta Lynn Van Lear Rose
On her 50th anniversary as a recording artist, Sony presented country music star, Ms Loretta Lynn, with her very own rose. The first 'Loretta Lynn Van Lear' rose plants – named after the artist’s GRAMMY® Award-winning album "Van Lear Rose" – will be delivered to the artist’s ranch. -
Marylou Whitney Rose
In honour of his wife, the Saratoga, New York socialite and philanthropist, Mr. John Hendrickson has commissioned the naming of the 'Marylou Whitney' rose. He selected the rose naming as a very unique and special gift for his beloved wife, and he paid particular attention to the type of rose that should carry her name. -
Elfi von Dassanowsky
The 'Elfi von Dassanowsky' rose was chosen by her son and named after his late mother, a famous film producer, opera singer, musician, and humanitarian. Recognized for her unique work as a pioneering woman in film production and as a multi-talent in postwar Austrian arts and culture, Elfi von Dassanowsky is the only Austrian to receive the Women’s International Center’s prestigious Living Legacy Award, and has been honored with the UNESCO Mozart Medal for her work in "promoting world peace through music and the arts." -
Baqi Billah Maulana Shaykh Nazim Rose
The 'Baqi Billah Maulana Shaykh Nazim' rose has an unusual name for a unique dedication. This particular rose was commissioned to honour a Sufi spiritual leader and his followers. Roses have been named in honour of many spiritual leaders through the ages, including Pope John Paul II, Pope Pius IX and XI, Gandhi, Buddha, and a panoply of saints, bishops, and others. -
Royal City Rose
On April 6, 2009, I presented the City of New Westminster, British Columbia with its own unique rose in a dedication ceremony at City Hall. The rose commemorates New Westminster's 150th anniversary. 'Royal City Rose' was bred by yours truly here at Select Roses in Langley, and was an eight-year labour of love.
