Dedicated to Ms Loretta Lynn in honour of her 50 years in the music business, and named for her album Van Lear Rose, the 'Loretta Lynn Van Lear Rose' is an ever-blooming floribunda known for its deep, rich apricot colour. Its buds open into a cottage-style flower, and the shrub grows to about two feet tall and wide, an ideal size for most gardens and large containers. Hybridized by Brad Jalbert.

Loretta Lynn is not the only one who can have the roses, though her fans may have to wait awhile to order their very own 'Loretta Lynn Van Lear Rose' plants. Developed by Brad Jalbert of Select Roses, he is working to make plants available through nurseries that mail-order plants in the fall of 2011. Select Roses is now building up stock of this rose, and will have a few plants available in spring 2011 for British Columbia customers.

Loretta Lynn Van Lear Rose' is bred from the famous 'Living Easy' rose, and has its same good health, but on a much shorter plant. It is almost a dwarf floribunda, but is not a mini-flora. Its mature size will depend on the climate in which it is grown. It is perfect for larger pots, the front of borders, and rose beds. Select Roses is having some plants grafted to produce an even stronger, slightly larger plant. Select Roses offers on-site retail sales of rose bushes only. To purchase the 'Loretta Lynn Van Lear' rose by mail-order, please contact Palatine Roses in Canada, or Chamblee 's Rose Nursery in the USA.

Sony Music Nashville CEO, Gary Overton, presented Ms Loretta Lynn with her very own rose to celebrate her 50 years in the music business. The very first plants will be delivered to her ranch in the spring of 2011. "Roses have always been so special to me—I've loved them since I was a girl," said Loretta. "So to have a rose named after one of my albums... well, I'm not sure I quite have words for that! I'm just very, very honored. I can't wait to have those Van Lear roses blooming in my yard!"
